The US Government, through its Agency for International Development (USAID), and in cooperation with the Alfred Lerner Business and Economy College of the University of Delaware and the Faculty of Economy in Sarajevo, started the Sarajevo Graduate School of Business (SGSB). The School was officially opened yesterday in Sarajevo.

The School will provide MBA (Master of Business Administration) degrees from the Universities of Sarajevo and Delaware. The first class of students started the lectures on September 28. The annual tuition is 26,000 EUR, but the students will be able to use a wide variety of scholarships, student loans and other financial assistance.

Douglas McElhaney, US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, said that the school will be a permanent facility for education in business management in B&H.

The Dean of the Faculty of Economy in Sarajevo, Muris Cicic said that the MBA studies will last for 12 months and will be focused on the field of marketing. Cicic added that the lectures will be given in English. Lecturers from the University of Delaware and qualified Bosnian experts will teach in the School.

USAID provided ten million US dollars as support for the SGSB MBA programme. The goal is to create a sustainable institutions which will be able to provide MBA education, even after USAID financing stops.
