What is OneWorld SEE?

OneWorld SEE is a multimedia Internet portal for NGOs and media in the region of Southeast Europe (for the moment, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro are involved). OneWorld SEE portal offers information on the civil sector in the region in the local languages (Albanian, Southslavic Group of Languages, Macedonian) and in English, in text and audio format.

The Portal also includes OneWorld Radio SEE - a web platform for exchange of audio files in the local languages between the radio stations and NGOs in the region.

What does the portal offer?

This new portal is an online platform for the NGOs in the region, with the purpose to establish networking and cooperation. It offers news (text and audio), guides, researches, campaigns, discussion groups and basic information on various social and development subjects, such as the HIV/AIDS, gender issues, human rights, environment, European integration or culture. In addition, the visitors can find information on trainings, forthcoming events and possibilities to join the civil sector as well as funding opportunities.

The contents are searchable by language, subject and geographic region. All the contents are collected from our partners – local and international NGOs.

What is the structure of the Portal?

OneWorld SEE portal is divided in four language editions – English, Albanian, Southslavic, Macedonian. OneWorld SEE has editors in Albania, Kosovo, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Serbia and Montenegro.

Each language edition has independent editorial policy, in order to be able to meet the diverse needs of the civil society and the media in the different countries, but all editions follow the same structure: news, indepth, partners, get involved, editions.

The English edition of OneWorld SEE has the purpose to provide relevant information on the current issues to the foreign NGOs that work in the region and to the global audience, primarily decision makers, donors and academics.

Indepth
This section bring detailed information on the profiles of states in the region, published research works on the region and the activities of the civil sector, pages with links to the other regional sites and dossiers on different social issues, such as HIV/AIDS, refugees, IDPs and media.

Partners
Search our partner database (both NGOs and radio stations) in the region and around the world. Join OneWorld SEE and became a member of the regional and global community of NGOs and radio stations. Send your comments, inform us about your activities, and if you seek volunteers, partners or donors for your projects, publish it in our portal. Join the debates in our discussion groups.

Get Involved
Lists of campaigns and seminars that you can participate in. If you produce radio programmes, join OneWorld Radio SEE to be able to exchange them with the rest of the region and the world. Find and download training manuals that will help you use new technology in your work.

Editions
Read the news on OneWorld editions in other languages. Read the selection of news from the other OneWorld editions, such as the AIDSChannel, OneWorld Radio or Digital Opportunities channel.

I have great project proposal. Can OneWorld finance it?

OneWorld works in cooperation with its partners on projects complementary to the OneWorld goals, but it doesn’t finance projects.

Would OneWorld SEE create a website for my organization if we become partners?

OneWorld, as a general principle, will not create a website for your organization if it becomes an OneWorld Partner. OneWorld supports organizations by providing training on creation of web-sites and can also create a website for your organization free of charge. In addition, the regional centre – OneWorld SEE, will seek ways to create websites free of charge for local NGOs.

Who are the partner organizations?

OneWorld SEE started with 60 partner organizations. That number includes non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civic initiatives, associations and other representatives of civil sector in the region. Partnership is open for international NGOs and media, research centres and academic institutions which work on specific projects in the region.

Who can’t be OneWorld SEE partner?

Organizations which implement activities that are significantly contrary to the OneWorld goals of promotion of human rights and sustainable development will be excluded from the partnership.

OneWorld SEE supports changes by peaceful means, therefore, organizations directly or indirectly involved in use of violence have no place in our community.

OneWorld SEE respects all differences among human beings and will not accept organizations that promote intolerance on national or gender basis, as well as discrimination of persons with special needs, or on the basisi of sexual orientation or religious affiliation.

OneWorld SEE will not accept political parties as partners.

Profit organizations are not excluded in principle, but they will have to demonstrate the way in which their activities can contribute to the achievement of joint goals with OneWorld SEE.

OneWorld SEE reserves the right to refuse partners applications on the basis of editorial judgment, including the quality, updating of information, or relevance of the presented information on partners’ web sites. In case of refusal of your application, you will receive the specific reasons for such a decision.

What use will we have from joining?

As OneWorld SEE partner, you will enjoy many benefits:
  • networking with other NGOs in the region
  • publication of opinion on subjects of your interest
  • publication of messages and information on your activities
  • if you don’t have your own website, we will create your ID page on OneWorld See which will be visible on the Internet
  • if you have your own website, we will attract more visitors to view your content
  • networking with the other parts of the OneWorld network

How to become a partner?

The interested NGOs and institutions that join as partners by filling in a simple form and accepting the basic conditions listed in the Partnership Agreement. Organizations should appoint one person to fill in the online form. That person will also be the contact point for OneWorld SEE.

What happens next?

Your application will be processed within a period of 10-15 work days. If you want, you can check whether we received your application by sending a message to email partnership@oneworld.net.

Once your partnership status is accepted and processed, we shall contact you to formally wish you welcome to our community.

If your application is not accepted (look at the “Who can’t become OneWorld SEE partner?” we will inform you about the reasons for that decision.

How can my organization apply to become OneWorld centre?

Organizations taken into consideration to become OneWorld centres have to comply with the criteria set by the OneWorld International Foundation. For information on the existing OneWorld Centres and how to become one, visit.
