Anti-Trafficking Information and Education Centre Opens

The La Strada Open Gate nongovernmental organization expanded the activities of its SOS Phone Line for assistance to victims of trafficking of human beings 0800 11111 and opened an information and education centre that deals with trafficking related issues.

The Centre aims to provide the citizens of Macedonia with consultations and assistance through direct, face-to-face contact with La Strada’s experts. Indeed, the opening of the centre was initiated by the realization that many persons that sought assistance on the SOS phone line actually need direct personal contact with professionals that could inform them about this problem in more detail and simplify the finding of solutions for their problems.

In addition, the SOS phone line is now open for calls 24 hours a day, and has received adequate computer equipment that would provide for creation of database of calls and multimedia CD with all activities and programmes implemented by La Strada in the fight against human trafficking.

The Infocentre will be open for visits on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10-12:00 hours. Appointments can be made on 0 800 11111, or by electronic mail at: sosline@lastrada.org.mk.
