After it announced its action “Placate Your Hero”, the BIRO Movement received a number of threats from members of various neo-Nazi organizations. Fearing the united neo-Nazis and nationalist may direct their aggression towards BIRO activists, the movement decided to conduct its action a day earlier.

Papa Smurf Street
|
On the night between Sunday and Monday (May 27/28) the activists renamed a number of streets and squares in Belgrade with names of pop-culture icons. Therefore, the Magistrate Square was renamed the Power Ranger Street, the Nikola Pasic Square was renamed Eric Cartman Square, the Serbian Rulers Street was renamed Homer Simpson Street, Andric Square into Papa Smurf Street, etc.
The action was conducted in response to the decaying system of values that finally resulted in declaring murderers to be heroes, and it clearly points to the bizarre aspects of the political demagogy undertaken by the Serb Radical Party.
The silence of the competent authorities and the trivial press releases only encourage the actions of extremist groups and make those bodies accomplices in incitement of violence against political opponents.
BIRO Movement insists that all television appearances by Aleksandar Vucic and other extreme nationalists are censored until further notice, for they are considered directly responsible for rising levels of violence and juvenile delinquency.
In the place of freedom of movement and travel and improved living standards and education, the youth in Serbia is offered murderers as heroes. The youth should know that criminals and murderers go to prison and that those who lie are not good people.
