"Did you know that each citizen produces about 1kg of waste daily? It amounts to about 2 tons of waste daily or 730 tons annually in our municipality only! Waste disposal, whose job is it? It’s our waste, it is our care! Join us in this initiative and monitor implementation and adherence to waste disposal legislation and regulations in Kotor!"
The previous message was used last week in Kotor, to inform the public about the creation of “Our Waste, Our Care” NGO Coalition. Over the next nine months, the coalition will monitor, through the Watchdog initiative, the implementation of waste disposal legislation in Kotor Municipality. The Coalition includes three organizations: Camellia, “Podlastva” Society for Renewal of Monasteries, and “Delfin” Environmental Centre, which also coordinates the coalition.
The activities will include a series of educational and information round-table discussions, debates, radio programmes, print materials, environmental workshops and art and literary competitions.
In addition, the coalition will prepare monthly reports, to be published in local media, about the environmental situation in Kotor Municipality, regarding waste disposal, implementation and adherence to legislation and regulations. In the process of implementation of the project, the Coalition will cooperate with competent institutions and Municipal authorities.
The project is implemented in cooperation with FONDAS and is supported through USAID’s Montenegro Advocacy Programme (MAP), implemented by ORT.
