NGOs Largely Uninformed about the Government Strategy
|
Two months after the adoption of Government’s Strategy for Cooperation with the Civil Sector, the majority of NGOs, working on both national and local level remain largely uninformed about the Strategy’s contents.
According to the survey conducted by the NGO Infocentre, including 100 active associatons from Skopje, Delcevo, Prilep, Stip, Kicevo, Strumica, Resen, Veles and Negotino, conducted earlier in March 2007, full 43 percent of the NGOs have never heard at all that the Government adopted the Strategy. Furthermore, over a half of the polled NGOs from Skopje were not informed about the Strategy. The survey also demonstrates that only a few (10%) of the NGOs had an opportunity to read the Strategy and to inform themselves about its contents. Some 63 percent of the polled civic associations had no idea that the Department for Cooperation with the Civil Sector of the Government’s General Secretariat is the body charged with the implementation of the Strategy and communication with the civil sector. The full Report on the Survey is available in Macedonian at the NGO Infocentre. |
