Manual on Tax System for Civic Associations in the Works

The Civic Initiatives, in cooperation with the European Centre for Non-profit Law (ECNL) from Budapest, and under the auspices of the Civil Society Advocacy Initiative – CSAI programme implemented by the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) prepares a Manual on Tax System for Civic Association in Serbia. The manual is financed by USAID.

The Manual aims to give more insight into the tax legislation to the Serbian civic associations, but also to emphasize those provisions that have direct impact on financial operations of NGOs.

At the same time, the systematic “inventory” of tax regulations, currently valid for the nongovernmental sector, should serve as the basis of public advocacy activities towards changes that would mean introduction of tax relief and rebates both for supporters and the NGO sector itself.

Civic Initiatives invite you to contribute to the preparation of the Manual with your questions or descriptions of difficulties your organization faced, related to the tax system. The authors will try to provide answers to all questions and provide additional information if needed.

The inquiries (suggestions, proposals, uncertainties, difficulties) should be submitted by e-mail at prirucnik@gradjanske.org by April 12, 2007.
