Equal Opportunities for All

Struga, Macedonia, hosted 36 young people from four countries, March 16-25, 2007, who discussed the equal rights and opportunities and active participation of youth in civil society.

The participants – young people between the ages of 18 and 25 – came from Estonia, Serbia, Portugal and Macedonia. Each country was represented by nine participants and one group leader per country.

The main topics of this youth exchange programme were the active participation of the youth in the society and the equal opportunities for persons with physical disabilities.

Through information about their cultural differences, introduction of various opportunities the youth has in various countries in terms of their leisure time, education, exchange of experience, the forum attempted to support the young population to be socially active and to know and defend their rights.

This programme helped the participants understand the various cultures and remove stereotypes and prejudices. The participants also met interesting people, received new information about various ideas on youth participation, human rights and having quality free time.
