Assessment of Democratic Development in B&H

On Wednesday, March 15, the Open Society Fund B&H presented the results of the survey “Assessment of Democratic Development in B&H”.

The Survey used the International IDEA methodology (International Institude for Democracy and Electoral Support from Stockholm), which was first developed to assess democratic development in the United Kingdom.

The assessment framework consists of 14 sections grouped in four pillars of democracy – Citizenship, law on rights; Representative and responsible government; Civil society and political participation; International dimension.

Almost all past reports, assessments and recommendations about democratic development in B&H were done by international organizations. This is the first report prepared by local experts and authors. The process of collection of data lasted for one year, while the preparation included 14 authors – researches in various fields. The whole process involved over 120 B&H experts.

The presentation was held at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Graduate Studies. In addition to Ms. Keboitsa Machangana from International IDEA, the reviewers of the Report, Ugo Vlaisavljevic and Nerzuk Curak, addressed the event.

The publication is available for download at SOROS Foundation website.
