Advocating Protection of Drug-Addicts’ Human Rights

The “Doverba” Ngo, in cooperation with the Foundation Open Society Institute Macedonia (FOSIM), announced the start of the pilot-project for Advocacy of Protection of Human Rights of Drug-Users.

The project aims to promote, advocate and lobby for protection of rights of persons that use injection narcotics and their families, as highly stigmatized, marginalized and socially excluded group. \

The implementation of the planned activities will fall on a team of experts, including a lawyer, social worker, paralegal information phone and psychiatrist.

The project includes establishment of office for free legal advice and legal information phone-line. The project team will also offer assistance in terms of securing proper documentation to realize the social and healthcare rights; will organize workshops on protection of human rights (both for its target group and employees of penal institutions; prepare information and education materials; and will present the activities in the media.
