Media and Gender Equality

The NGO Infocentre, in cooperation with the Government’s Department for Gender Equality, organized a focus-discussion dedicated to media and gender equality.

The discussion, organized under the auspices of the public debate on the Draft-Gender Equality Action Plan (2007-2012), gathered together editors and journalists from a number of national print and broadcast media, as well as gender equality experts.

The emphasis of the discussion was placed on the need to establish an advisory body that would provide for continued monitoring of gender stereotypes in the media and will propose concrete measures to reduce the levels of gender discrimination in the media.
