On the Road to EU: Macedonian Gender Equality Policies

The Akcija Zdruzenska civic association, under the auspices of EU’s Campaign “2007 – Year of Equal Opportunities”, organized a forum on the topic On the Road to EU: Macedonian Gender Equality Policies.
The meeting presented an opportunity to open a debate between representatives of Government institutions, NGOs, EU representatives to Macedonia and other relevant organizations, on the progress Macedonian has achieved so far and the future directions to achieve the gender equality standards that are an integral part of European legislation and practice. Having in mind the new policies and EU’s intensified efforts to promote and improve gender equality, the debate focused on the development and effective implementation of Macedonia’s policies in this area. The forum also produced a series of directions and recommendations. The discussion was based on information on progress made by the Republic of Macedonia in achievement of EU’s gender equality standards, having in mind the findings and recommendations of the monitoring implemented by EU representatives and NGOs. |
