How do Women and Men in Serbia Truly Live?

The Association of Women Initiative (AWIN) and the Gender and Ethnicity Research Centre (Altera MB from Budapest, Hungary), will present on Thursday, January 25, the results of the sociological research - Gender Barometer in Serbia 2006: Social Position of Women and Men.

The survey covered the following topics: gender-based social inequality (in terms of employment, unemployment, labour, property); who are the winners of the transition; who is prepared to learn and improve; what are the differences in views on marriage, partnership, parenthood between men and women; different views on healthcare; causes of conflict in the family; what are the domestic roles and who makes the decisions.

The survey will be presented at the Life Outside Politics: How Do Women and Men in Serbia Truly Live? conference, which shall start at the Media Centre Belgrade, at 12:00 hours.

Dr Marina Blagojevic, author of the survey and Governmental expert on Millennium Goals; Jelena Bakic, AWIN associate working on Economic Policy Initiative; and Ljiljana Stevkovic, Project Assistant and researcher at the Institute for Criminal Sciences and Sociological Research.
