Queeria 2007 Calendar - Friends

The Queeria Group promoted last Tuesday, December 20, the Friends:Prijatelji calendar, created as activist response to the violence and injustice to which the persons different from the socially dominant behavioural patterns are exposed.

Queeria activists say that the publication of this calendar planned, with the support by public personalities engaged in a variety of areas of creative work and arts, to stimulate a wider discussion and open new spaces that won�t be dominated by the hierarchy of violence, where all forms of intolerance will be treated equally in front of justice.

The visual identity of the calendar consists of six squares in the colours of the rainbow, symbolizing social diversity, connecting 12 portraits and turning the differences between people into a factor of cohesion.

Aleksandra Kovac, singer and composer; Biljana Srbljanovic, playwrite; Dragana Jovanovic, human rights activist; Fika Filipovic, peace activist; Ksenija, Majda and Maja from Queer Belgrade; Lori and Zoe, performers at Act Women group; Marko Vidojkovic, writer; Milan Markovic, dramatist; Mirjana Karanovic, actress; Svetozar Cvetkovic, actor; Viva la Diva, Belgrade�s trans-star; Zivko Grozdanic, painter; were all photographed and appear on the calendar.

"There is little, if any, discussion of discrimination of persons of other political opinion, sexual orientation, visual identity... Racism, ageism, homophobia, able-ism are all components of our society, but are often invisible. The engagement against war, violence and fear was not an obligation restricted solely to activists, but to all people that care about a different world. Therefore, we have to be friends, to get to know each other, to work together. That is the message of this calendar�, said Queeria in a public statement.
