New Services Offered, Monopoly Untouchable

Deltathree Ltd., a licensed Macedonian telephone services operator, signed a partnership agreement with Peoplecall, prominent Spanish telephone services provider. The agreement secures Deltathree a full access to Peoplecall’s infrastructure and networks.

With this agreement, Deltathree will enrich the offer for telephone communication in Macedonia. The idea is to offer free-of-charge telephone calls to its customers, regardless of where they may be located, whether in Macedonia, Croatia, Spain or Albania, said Nebojsa Stanevski, Deltathree Representative for Macedonia.

At this moment, Deltathree offers its 4,000 users in Macedonia international calls through the “ONE” pre-paid cards, based on the 0800 free access number. The cards are available for purchase in over 1,500 sales points in the country. Deltathree offers its services in more than 100 countries in the world.

Stanevski, however, was far less optimistic about quick termination of monopoly currently held by “Macedonian Telecommunications” Ltd. Co.

“Having in mind the current interconnection charges asked by the Telecom, we have no economic interest to start offering local calls. Furthermore, it would be very optimistic for my, or anybody else for that matter, to claim that the monopoly will be eliminated in the next, say two or three years”, said Stanevski.
