TS Invites Parties to Take Serious Positions on Corruption

Transparency Serbia invited all political parties that participate in the election campaign to adopt more serious approach to the problem of corruption.

Transparency Serbia greets the fact that the fight against corruption is one of the main topics of the election campaign, but warns that the problem is yet to be approached in the correct manner.

Having in mind that this is, by no means, a zero point in terms of the fight against corruption, it would be useful if the political platforms present some position on the National Strategy for Fight against Corruption, adopted in December 2005.

Also, the parties should present their views and positions on the existing anti-corruption regulations, the plans to solve the problem of state institutions, as well as for elimination of systemic causes of corruption, believes the organization.

TS adds that the consideration and elaboration of party programmes on that issue will help convince the voters about the seriousness of their promises, but should also be of use to party leaderships to review the possible challenges they may face if they get into a position of power.
