CRCA Holds a Two-Day Training Course on Child Labour

The Children's Human Rights Centre in Albania - CRCA, under its Programme "Stop Child Labour and Child Trafficking in Albania", organized a two-day training course "Child Labour - The Problem and the Response", on December 7-8, 2006. The training course was funded by the Olof Palme International Centre and SIDA.

Representatives of NGO's that work for/with children, teachers, and educators from several schools of Tirana took part in the training. The training aims to strengthen professional and institutional capacities of public institutions and NGO's in Tirana to work for elimination of child labour phenomena. The training also aimed to raise awareness, strengthen capacities and improve the existing social services provided for children.

The training was split into three modules. The first module covers the concept of children's rights; the second module covers the problem of economical exploitation of children in Albania - causes and consequences. While the third module covers models of solving the problem, provisions and strategies for the elimination of child labour.

A variety of training methods were used: exchange of experiences and information among participants and trainers, exercises, role plays and lecturing.
