MJAFT's Civic Clubs are Spreading Activism throughout Albania

This week, in some of the cities throughout Albania, MJAFT Movement's Civic Clubs were more active than ever before.

Shkodra's civic club recently protested against the local municipality's lack of interest in regards to the opening of public parks. The protest was declared an innovative performance. The young participants were divided into teams -- they played volleyball and basketball to the sound of some music for about an hour in one of the city's squares.

This was a symbolic demonstration of the lack of sports facilities and parks for the youth. "Flip charts" were placed all over the square so that citizens could write individual messages that would then be sent to the municipality.

In the meantime, the activists of the civic club in Lexha mobilized to distribute 20 garbage cans in the town's main parks. Some representatives from the local government were present as well.

Before undertaking this activity the activists of MJAFT Movement took pictures of the polluted spots in Lexha and exposed them in the town center for the locals to see. In doing so they demanded that the local government intervene immediately to improve the distressing environmental conditions.

One of the objectives of Mjaft's public awareness campaign, "Live Green," was to raise the people's consciousness regarding this important issue in ten Albanian cities.

Moving onto other news, the civic club in Gjirokastra focused its last initiative on protesting against the violence practiced in our stadiums. The activists of this club hung a huge banner denouncing violence in the city's stadium. They also demanded a more productive collaboration between the Albanian Football Federation and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports.
