MOST: Ministry of Environment is Obligatory for an Ecological State

Following the information that the new Montenegrin Government Cabined will not include a Ministry on Environmental Protection, the MOST Development and Culture Information Centre appealed to Zeljko Sturanovic, the holder of the mandate to form the new Government, to secure the continuity of the Ministry of Environment.

"If there was a conflict in the Ministry of Environmental Protection over the competences on issues of ecology and economy, how could it function in a situation when ecology falls under the Ministry of Tourism, while space is managed by the Ministry of Economy? We believe that, in a country in which the several decades of pressure created a number of black spots in terms of the environment, nobody would want to destabilize the government by installing this conflict of competences�, says MOST in a public statement.

MOST added that they are convinced that Ecological Montenegro will get at least equal support as the European Montenegro, so they recommend to Sturanovic to secure that the Government includes a Ministry of Environment, if possible headed by a woman, who would join the Minister of European Integrations, which is currently the only female minister in the Government Cabinet.

The organization announced that it will inform all political factors with the petition supported by over 4000 citizens, collected under the �Ecological means European� Campaign, to demand their support for the implementation of demands listed in the petition.
