CGO Demands More Women in the Government from Sturanovic

The Centre for Civic Education (CGO) is seriously concerned about the fact that only one woman will sit in the new Government of Montenegro.

"The announced composition of the new Government will not contribute to development of democratic, open society that aims towards the European Union and the standards it sets”, says CGO in a public statement.

CGO adds that it practically excludes the women from highest decision-making levels in Montenegro. It sends a discouraging message to an important segment of the society, but also to the international public which has another proof that the declared political reforms remain just a matter of rhetoric used for everyday political purposes and gains.

"This Government will be the worst example in the region, in terms of gender equality, which brings about the question how serious the Government is to establish Montenegro as democratic society based on democratic values, including gender equality”, warns CGO.

CGO appealed to Zeljko Sturanovic, the holder of the mandate to form a cabinet, to take this fact into consideration during the process of selection of his team.
