SKENA UP Festival Launches

One hundred films and 15 theatrical plays produced by a number of art schools from all over the world will be screened and staged during the week-long “SKENA UP” International Students Film and Theatre Festival. The Festival will take place in Prishtina, November 10-17, 2006.

“SKENA UP” starts with performance of artists from Prishtina Faculty of Arts in the National Theatre, on November 10, and will conclude with Awards night on November 17.

Prestigious cinematographic schools will compete in the official programme of this years Festival, together with some guest screenings of films awarded at various international festivals. The organizers plan to hold press-conferences and discussions of films and plays performed and screened during the Festival.

Four workshops with students are planned, held by Conal Kenrey (Ireland), Shamal Amini (Austria), Jorge Lopes Ramos & Persis-Jade Maravala (Brazil) and Bekim Lumi (Kosova).

SKENA UP will be decided by two juries, charged with the decisions on Festival Awards in the two segments. The Theatre Jury will include Donald Stewart (Scotland, UK),
Shamal Amin (Austria) and Jeton Neziraj (Kosova). The Film Jury will include Mark O'Halloran (Irland), Daniel Stamm (Germany) and Burbuqe Berisha (Kosovo).

This is the 4th edition of “SKENA UP” Festival and it is held under the patronage of Ministry of Culture.
