Ministry of Environment Prepares Rulebook on Waste Oils
The Ministry of Environmental Protection, Spatial Planning and Construction (MZOPU) released the draft-Rulebook on Management of Waste Oils. This is another of planned rulebooks designed to raise the levels of environmental protection, secure the implementation of legislation on waste management and European directives.
Waste lubricants that are not used and/or stored properly are very hazardous type of waste. The collected lubricants can be reused in such a way to get new products, purify them to enable new use as lubricants, or use them as fuel. The Draft-Rulebook regulates which legal or private persons will be charged with payment of fees, the amounts of the fees paid, deadlines for payment and methods of calculation of fees and compensations, methods of waste oils management and storage, bonuses for legal and private persons that collect waste oils, as well as other issues related to use and storage of waste oils. The Rulebook was prepared in accordance with the EU Directive on Waste Oils, the “polluter pays” principle which secures that waste oil management is conducted in compliance with European legislation. The Draft is available for reading at www.mzopu.hr. |
