Voice of Kosovars on the Local Governance
|
In 2006, Kosovars are generally less satisfied with the provision of public services than they were in 2003 according to data in a newly published report by Index Kosova, within a UNDP project Kosovo Mosaic.
The new report to be launched on Friday 20 of November in Grand Hotel, is the follow up from the 2003 Kosovo Mosaic. The new report is called Kosovo Mosaic 2006 and has asked citizens of Kosovo the same questions as three years ago. In this way the report measures the development of the knowledge of Kosovars and their attitudes toward governance in Kosovo. Out of 22 public services measured in 2003 and 2006, Kosovars polled for the report are more satisfied with only 8 of them, while dissatisfaction with other services has increased. According to the report “Kosovars in 2006 are less satisfied with the provision of public services than they were in 2003. This is consistent throughout the major sectors including health and education”. Compared with 2003 Kosovars see UNMIK as a less responsible body for provision of public services. The citizens see local and central Kosovo institutions as those responsible in providing these services, according to the report. The report outlines the perceptions and the knowledge of citizens on multiple issues, including their knowledge of the existence of the law regarding Access to Official Documents. Only 19 per cent of citizens are aware of the existence of this law. |
