Media Strategy and Policy

In February 2006, the Media Development Centre presented the survey on the Programming Needs of Electronic Media Audience in Macedonia, one of the three surveys that are in process, and which are part of MDC programme that should provide the bases for the preparation of the National Broadcasting Strategy in the Republic of Macedonia.

The first phase of this project is financed by the OSCE, the Foundation Open Society Institute Macedonia, IFA and the Media Programme of the Open Society Institute in Budapest.

MDC prepared the Guidelines for Institutional Implementation of the New Broadcasting Law, organizes series of trainings for the representatives of Macedonian electronic media in the area of implementation. Parallel to these activities, MDC is also engaged in active monitoring of institutions charged with the implementation of the Broadcasting Law.

MDC also participates in the preparation of the book, Law on Broadcasting Activity with Comments, written by Borce Davitkovski, Professor at the School of Law in Skopje.

The Media Development Centre was actively involved in the initiative to adopt a Law on Free Access to Information of Interest to the Public, the initiative for changes and amendments to the Law on Telecommunications, the Law on Public Information, a number of analysis of media regulations. MDC is one of the founders of the NGO Infocentre and has been active OWSEE partner since 2003.
