Training on Environmental Law for Lawyers

The Green ForumZeleni forum, a network of Croatian environmental associations, announces a public competition for education of lawyers and law students (in their senior years) on environmental law.

The two-year education programme includes two seminars and practical work on pilot-projects for provision of legal assistance to environmental association all over Croatia. The admission is free of charge, but the number of participants is restricted. This programme is one of the activities of the two-year CARDS 2003/04 project, titled, Good Governance and the Rule of Law in Croatian Environmental Policy, coordinated by Zelena Akcija, Zelena Istra and Sunce, on the behalfe of the Green Forum.

Admission criteria:

Candidates with degree in law or students of law in their final years of study shall be eligible;
Fluency in English language.

Applications will be received by October 31, 2006, by e-mail to za@zelena-akcija.hr, or by mail sent to Zelena akcija, Frankopanska 1, PP 952, HR-10,000 Zagreb.

The applications has to include:

Copy of the University Diploma (or proof of student status);
Curriculum Vitae;
Letter of Motivation.

The first seminar on environmental law will be held in Zagreb, November 23-24, 2006, and will be required for participation in the further seminars.

Preliminary programme of the seminar:

Introduction to Environmental Law and legislative framework in Croatia;
Major problems and issues in this branch of the law;
Examples from domestic and foreign legal practices (Austria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, U.S.);
EU Environmental legislation.
