SDF Condemns Attacks on Vice-President of Serbian Government as Counterproductive
|
The Serb Democratic Forum (SDF) protested the increased frequency of attacks on Ivana Dulic Markovic, Vice-President of Serbian Government, by some media and political parties of the extreme right. Dulic-Markovic is targeted because of her national and ethnic background.
SDF, an organization that provides legal assistance and protection of rights of refugees from Croatia condemned the attacks as “...clear cases of hate-speech aimed to morally discredit and satanize Dulic-Markovic”. Such attacks have negative impact on the overall position and status of Serb community in Croatia, claims SDF and expresses its suspicions that nationalist extremists in Croatia cooperate with their Serbian counterparts, in order to prevent the normalization and development of good relations in the region and the return of the refugees. SDF believes that the attacks on Dulic-Markovic and the renewed ideas of changes of borders appear after the strong pressure that EU human rights organizations and institutions exerted on Croatia to eliminate the remaining obstacles to full return of Serb refugees and to observe and respect their property and other associated rights. |
