“Malfunction” Queer Belgrade Festival

Queer Belgrade invites you to the third “Malfunction”, festival that celebrates diversity and freedom of sexual expression and all people that fight the system. Performances, discussions, workshops, actions, parties, films, concerts, picnics will be organized during the four days of the Festival (October 12-15).
Serbian language, as it is, offers no adequate translation for the word queer. Also, there is no word to use and explain what we think about when we say queer is more than just equality for LGBT population. To us, queer means radical connection between a variety of policies and creation of way in which we want to live in the world. Our new festival is named “Kvar” (Malfunction), a pun that plays on the homophony with the word queer and the technical name for malfunction in “the machine”, i.e. the capitalist, nationalist, racist, militarist, sexist and homophobic system. We enjoy being the malfunction in that machine. We refuse to accommodate to the social norms and undermine them to create a different world, without fake choices, wars and the race for money.
