SFF Human Rights Award Goes to "Vukovar – Final Cut"

The jury of the 12th Sarajevo Film Festival awarded the Human Rights Award for promotion of human rights to “Vukovar – Final Cut”, a film by Croatian journalist Drago Hedl and Belgrade director Janko Baljak.

The film, with the help of participants and witnesses and archival footage, reconstructs the events in Vukovar, refraining from any comment, from the first free elections in 1990, to the massacre of Ovcara in 1991 and the Belgrade trial of the perpetrators in 2005.

The film presents previously unseen footage from the fall of Vukovar filmed by the Serbian side. The people interviewed for this film talk about preparations for war in Vukovar, the siege and the fall of the city, but also about the roles played by individual generals and details about procurement of arms.

The monetary part of the Award of 3,000 EUR was secured by the Swiss Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
