Save the Children Demands Improved Children Rights in Montenegro
Save the Children appealed to all actors in Montenegrin political scene to give priority in their political platforms and agendas to the improvement and protection of children rights.
The organization demands from political parties to adopt and work on reform of social policies and children protection system; budgetary provisions for protection and care for children, as well as creation and adoption of national strategies and action plans; secure conditions for implementation of all adopted regulations that treat children rights, as listed in the UN Conventions; to continue with the reforms of the education system to include all children. The public statement adds that the process of stabilization and EU association presents the candidate countries with a set of criterial and that the EU analyzes the situation in the area of individual rights, especially children, elderly, disabled and poor people. "Therefore, if Montenegro aims to become EU member state, it outhgt to implement thorough reforms, especially in the fields of education and social welfare”, warns Save the Children. |
