Governments have to Discard Selfish Interests and Stop the War in Lebanon

Activists of the „Objection for Peace“ Regional Network held protests, Friday, August 4, in Sarajevo, to protest the latest escalation of violence in the Middle East.

About twenty activists condemned the destruction of Lebanon at the hands of military and politcal leadership of Israel and distributed promotional and information material to the citizens.

The gathering criticized the role that the U.S. play in this conflict, as well as the incapacity of the international community, especially the UN, to stop the destriction.

„The inefficiency of these mechanisms is a product of selfish interests of individual governments who use wars to achieve their own goals and interests. As people who have survived the direct consequences of that incompetence, we believe that only active, non-violent, anti-war action by individual citizens can influence the cease of hostilities“, say the representatives of „Objection for Peace“.

The citizens were especially interested in the open-air exhibition of anti-war and anti-militarist posters from all over the world.

„Objection for Peace“ announced that their action will continue until the violence stops. Several days ago, the organizations included in the Regional Network presented their demands for stop of hostilities.
