Osjecki Zeleni: Croatia Has to Join Efforts to Stop the War

The Osijecki Zeleni (Osijek Greens) environmental organization called upon the Government of Croatia to use the UN Commission for Peace auspices, and especially its status of candidate country for full EU membership, to make strong and active effort towards an immediate and unconditional stop of war in Lebanon.

Osijecki Zeleni demand from the Government to condemn the killings of UN observers and to support the idea for establishment of UN mission for preservation and creation of peace in Lebanon, as well as the other countries of the Middle East engulfed by wars and conflict.

"As a country that was herself a victim of aggression and still has to deal with consequences of war, Croatia has a responsibility to join the efforts to stop the war in Lebanon and prevent the start of a fatal regional, and even nuclear global war in the Middle East”, states the organization in a public statement.

Osjecki Zeleni express their concern over the escalating violence in Lebanon and the Middle East, and is disappointed by the sangfroid that the UN and the most powerful countries in the world apply in their treatment and approach to this genocide and ekocide.

"Each and every war and armed conflict lays destruction on the nature, depletes natural resources, destroys societies, nurtures and creates racism. In fact, the 61st Anniversary of the Drop of Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki (August 1945) will be marked while fierce fighting rages in Lebanon, Israel and the Gaza Strip. The leading political figures in the world can’t make another mistake and use nuclear weapons, since it remains the biggest problem facing the survival of humanity”, adds the public statement.
