The “Doves” centre for children with limited capacities has officially become a part of Tirana Municipal public services system. At full capacity, the Centre can accept 35 children residents (the children spend the weekdays at the Centre and go home for the weekends) and at this time, it also functions as day-care centre for additional 35 children.
“Doves” has a staff of 25 employees, teachers, physiotherapist, developmental therapist, other medical and assistant personnel. The Centre was recently visited by Tirana Mayor Edi Rama, prior to the transfer of competences over the Centre to the local administration. “The social dimension of Tirana has been and will remain one of the pillars of our work, although it may be invisible at this moment”, said Rama during in visit. Rama also said that the social inequality remains one of the major “battlefields” for the Municipality. The work and activities towards solution for this issue will gain in strength and will be tailored more to the needs of the target audience, as already illustrated by the increased cooperation with different associations that work in the field of protection of rights of persons with special needs. |
