Place to Move on Exit06

More than 70 non-governmental organizations from Southeastern Europe participate in the Place to Move programme, organized under the auspices of the EXIT06 festival, in Novi Sad.

This edition of EXIT is marked by a campaign for liberalization of visa regimes, which included a discussion with Ollie Rehn, European Commissioner for EU Expansion, on the first day of the festival.

The visitors have the opportunity to take part in the “Greetings from Europe” action, under which big models of the Eiffel Tower and the Big Ben were raised on one festival crossroad. Everybody that wishes to do so can have a photo there and later receive electronic postcard with the list of addresses of EU institutions and media to post it to. The action aims to demonstrate to EU public that the only difference between the people on the photographs and their peers from all over Europe is the fact that the former can’t travel around.

The second edition of Best Stories from the Visa Line, a collection of best short stories selected in the public competition organized last year by the Citizens’ Pact for SEE for the youth of Serbia and Montenegro, B&H, Macedonia and Albania. The book is available at a special price of 99 dinars.

Also, fliers in English with explanation how difficult it is for the young people from the region to travel are distributed to visitors from EU countries. (For additional information on this campaign, visit this link.

EXIT Festival and the European MTV Foundation implement the Working Somewhere? campaign for promotion of youth employment and development. The National Employment Service is one of the official participants in the Festival.

For the first time, EXIT hosts organizations involved in issues of free software and free knowledge. Owpsee is one of the participants in this segment of the Festival.

A debate was held on Saturday, July 8, discussing free software and free culture, with participation of Free Software Network, Linux User Groups from Novi Sad and Belgrade, Wikimedia Serbia, as well as representatives of MI2 Multimedia Institute from Zagreb and owpsee Foundation, Ivana Pavic and Tomislav Domes.
