Youth Commission Initiative for a Law on Youth Issues

The Commission for Coordination of Youth Issues in B&H, which includes representatives of institution on national, entity and District of Brcko level and representatives of youth non-governmental sector, will start the initiative to adopt a Law on Youth Issues, on national, entity and BH Federation.

The new legislation should contribute to improved status of youth and secure institutional care for the youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The initiative shall be submitted to the competent legislative bodies. The Commission expects their full cooperation in the preparation of the draft-Law and urgent action in that direction.

The Commission shall organize a series of meetings with the youth from all regions of B&H, over the next two months, in order to collect their suggestions and opinions which shall be integrated in the Draft-Law. The Commission invited all youth NGOs, the youth organizations of political parties and all interested young people to take active participation in that process.

The Commission believes that youth employment remains one of the biggest problems faced by the youth. Having in mind that the existing legislation doesn’t stimulate youth employment (to the contrary, they present it with numerous obstacles), the Commission announced another legislative initiative to change such legal solutions.

The Commission also used the opportunity to condemn all forms of violence and xenophobia among the young population in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

All documents of the Commission for Coordination of Youth Issues in B&H are available for download and online reading on www.mladi.gov.ba and can be ordered by e-mail at info@mladi.gov.ba.
