Independence of Montenegro officially proclaimed

The Republic Referendum Commission has officially confirmed the state status of Montenegro at the Referendum held in Podgorica on May 21st, stating that European Union's conditions have been met, and that 55.5% of the voters supported Montenegro independence.
Based on the results of the referendum, 419.240 or 86,5 % voters came out to vote, and out of the total registered number of voters is Montenegro, and that there were 230.661,or 55,5% from the number of valid votes, voted for the independence of Montenegro, while 185.000, or 44,5% of the valid votes supported that the existing state should remain as joined. According to the reports on the results of the voting that the RRK delivered to the media, there was a total of 419.200 voters. At the voting polls there were 404.800 voters, and outside of the voting places a total of 14.400 have voted. The number of valid votes is 415.663, and there were 3.577 of invalid votes. The last instance that had the right to decide on how regular the voting has been, is the Constitutional Court of Montenegro who has informed the RRK in written form today that there were no submitted complaints for the decision of the Commission. |
