Coalition for Education closes Campaign “Every Child Needs a Teacher”
|
The Albanian Coalition for Children's Education, which includes 10 major child-rights organisations in the country, closed successfully its campaign "Every child needs a Teacher". As many as 15 thousand children and teachers are estimated to have participated in the activities of the Campaign.
During the last days of the campaign 100 children and teachers from CRCA Children Club and School 'Dhora Leka' participated in the exhibition of children paintings under the theme 'My Teacher', which took place under the premises of the school. Meanwhile a Forum organised by CRCA focused on the children's needs for better education, school texts and curricula. The Forum was organised in one of the poorest areas of Tirana. Although Albania does not lack teachers, the education system is weak and many children and parents complain about the quality of education and appropriate curricula. This is the reason why the Coalition for Children's Education decided to hold its campaign on the issue of quality of education and of qualification of teachers. This is the fourth year that civil society in Albania is part of the Global Campaign for Education. The Campaign "Every child needs a qualified teacher" will take place throughout Albania and its main focus will be to organise sensitizing activities in schools and local communities with children teachers and local leaders. Members of the Coalition and the Campaign include: Children's Human Rights Centre of Albania (CRCA), Information and Research Centre for Children's Rights in Albania (IRCCRA), World Vision Albania, Save the Children Albania, Albanian Children's Alliance (ACA), Centre for Protection of Children with Disabilities (MEDPAK) Christian Children Fund (CCF), SOS Children's Villages Albania, Plan Albania and Teachers Trade Unions of Albania (FSASH and SPASH).
