Possibility for Online Check of Voter Registry Data

The voters in Macedonia have a new possibility to check their personal data in the Voter Registry. At the www.izbirackispisok.gov.mk, and within the legally set period from May 5 to May 19, the citizens will be able to check whether they are registered in the Voter Registry and to see at which ballot station they may cast their votes. The website also offers information on the manner in which the citiznes may register, be deleted from the Registry, or change incorrect data in it.

The Voter Registry on internet is a joint activity of the MOST civil association and the Ministry of Justice. This project aims to provide easy access to the data listed in the Voter Registry.

The idea is for this opportunity to contribute to increased number of checks, which, in turn, will contribute to more regular and correct update of the database. Among other things, this is an opportunity for the other interested parties, the political parties above all, to take concrete steps to improve the quality of the Voter Registry.

MOST prepared the online application and secured the necessary technical conditions to implement this project. The Ministry, on the other hand, will be responsible for the quality of data entered into the database and will take care of its continued maintenance.

The web-site will be promoted through a public debate, which includes distribution of brochures and other promotional materials, as well as field activities and mass actions to check the Registry. The aim of the campaign is to bring the public attention to the new method for check of data. The project is financed by the Norwegian People’s Aid.
