OSCE Mission, UNHCR Establish Working Group on Roma Issues

The OSCE Mission and the UNHCR Representation to Serbia and Montenegro held the first meeting yesterday of the Interagency Working Group on Roma in Serbia.

The Working Group, which also includes a number of UN agencies, the Council of Europe and Care International, will help co-ordinate activities related to the Roma population in Serbia, as well as activities with the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights, the Serbian Government and Parliament, the National Council of the Roma National Minority, the Council for the Integration of the Roma in Vojvodina, and the Roma civil society.

Meeting on a monthly basis, the Interagency Working Group will discuss eviction and personal documentation issues, as well the implementation of the Action Plans adopted by the Serbian Government in the framework of the Decade of Roma Inclusion.
