Queer Zagreb Festival
Two days later, on April 27, Marc Tompkins, French-American coreographer will perform his Song and Dance project, dealing with HIV and perception of artists’ own body as a mask, which needs to be covered aditionally or, depending on the occasion, expose completely. Tomkins has participated in numerous important European festivals and his work is often compared to the work of Sasha Waltz, Jérôme Bel and Marie Chouinard. Earthfall, one of the leading British dance troupes, will present its At Swim Two Boys project, based on the awarded novel by Jamie O’Neill, which deals with the narrow borders of privacy, which makes the two protagonists seek refuge in the only safe space available to them, their own bodies. Among the other events in this years Festival, the organizers recommend the retrospective of Teddy winner films (Teddy is the Berlinale award for best queer film): Kimura-san (Tadasu Takamine, Japan); Lesben über 40 Stammtisch (Manuela Kay and Her Boys, Germany); White Flags (Bubu de la Madelaine, Japan); How To Make Lesbian Porn (Manuela Kay, Germany); Exposed to Virus and Fashion (Silvio Vujicic, Croatia); and a number of meetings with artists, parties, etc. The opening ceremony will be held in Tvornica Club, while the other venues should be confirmed soon. |
