Citizens’ Pact Starts Campaign against Raise of Visa Fees
The Citizens’ Pact for SEE starts a campaign against the announced raise in EU visa fees. The European Council for Justice and Home Affairs is expected to decide, at the end of April, on EU visa fees increase from EURO 35 to EURO 60 for citizens of third countries. According to announcements, the implementation of new fees will start on January 1, 2007.
The Citizens’ Pact believes that this is the last moment to protest against that decision which completely oppose the recently started visa facilitation talks between EU and Western Balkan countries as an initiative of the European Comission, confirmed in the informal “Gymnich” meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, held in Salzburg on March 10-11. The decision to increase the visa fees for the citizens of Western Balkan countries will send a message that they are not considered a part of the family of European nations. CP invites the citizens to join the campain and send the Protest Letter (attached to this article) to the embassies of all EU countries and all international missions and organisations in your country, as well as the national and local media, organizations and associations, and post it on organizations’ web sites. Attached to this article is also the Visa Flash Game, specially developed as a tool in CP’s Visa Campaign. |
