FOUNDATION ONEWORLD - PLATFORM FOR SOUTHEAST EUROPE
After three years of successful work in the region, beginning of 2006, OneWorld Southeast Europe registered as a non profit foundation named “oneworld – platform southeast europe” (owpsee), based in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. On April 3 and 4 (Monday, Tuesday) there will be a launch event hosted in Sarajevo to mark the ocassion.
At the beginning of 2006, the owpsee English language edition homepage alone had almost three times more unique visitors than same time last year. In March 2005, 500 visitors added the owpsee portal to their list of favorites, while in February 2006, this figuremultiplied by four to reach 2000. The launch event of oneworld – platform for southeast europe (owpsee) will be twofold: the presentation of the foundation's scope of work and programs, and on the second day, a work session with civil initiatives on the importance of Gender perspective in Information Communication Technologies (ICT), and policies thereof in the region. owpsee has 200 partner organizations in Southeast Europe – a growing community that works in areas spanning from advocacy, information communications, and media, to human rights, gender equality, and activism. owpsee works to enhance free access to information, online learning and sharing for all. oneworld – platform for southeast europe (owpsee) envisions an active and efficient online community in South East Europe, unified in efforts to impact faster democratic developments and positive social change within civil societies of the region, and cooperating through interactive platforms at local, national, regional and international levels.
