Macedonia ranked 82nd on Networked Readiness Index

The World Economic Forum, in cooperation with INSEAD, published the “Networked Readiness Index” of the Global Information Technology Report 2005-2006.

The Networked Readiness Index measures the propensity for countries to leverage the opportunities offered by information and communication technologies for development and increased competitiveness. It also establishes a broad international framework mapping out the enabling factors of such capacity.

The Networked Readiness Index is composed of three component indexes which assess: the environment for ICT offered by a given country or community, the readiness of the community's key stakeholders - individuals, business and governments, and the usage of ICT among these stakeholders

The Report covers 115 countries throughout the world. The United States tops the rankings for the third time in five years, followed by Singapore and the Nordic trio Denmark, Iceland and Finland.

Macedonia has a rank of 82 out of 115, while Turkey on 48th place leads the EU candidate countries. Croatia is ranked 57th. Just to compare – Romania holds 58th place, while Bulgaria is ranked 64th.
