GONG Will Monitor Elections in the Ukraine

GONG civil organization, together with 17 other NGOs from Central and Eastern Europe and NIS (Newly Independent States), and under the auspices of ENEMO-European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations, will participate in the monitoring mission of the Parliamentary Elections in the Ukraine.

ENEMO will delegate a total of 390 observers for the Elections, scheduled for March 26, 2006, 20 of whom will come from GONG. GONG observers will monitor the electoral processes in Odessa and its surrounding area.

ENEMO is an organization funded by a group of NGOs from a number of European countries, among them GONG. The founding convention was held in September 2001, in Opatija, and was organized by GONG.

Since its establishment, ENEMO members have monitored over 140 national elections and educated and trained over 180,000 local, non-partisan observers.

ENEMO's was the biggest international monitoring mission at the 2004 Presidential Elections in the Ukraine, with 1,000 observers in the second round of elections and 1,000 observers in the revote of the second round. GONG had 60 observers.
