Youth Policy Conference: Challenges and Opportunities for Regional Cooperation
|
A regional Youth Policy Conference will take place March 8-9, 2006, in Sarajevo, under the “Youth Lens – Youth Network for Cooperation with Governments” regional project. The Conference will discuss the challenges and opportunities for regional cooperation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia and Montenegro.
This regional conference will provide an opportunity for representatives from the government, international institutions and bodies, international and local nongovernmental organizations, and youth from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia and Montenegro to learn about the current status of youth policy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia and Montenegro. Two key objectives of this conference will be to give the youth representatives from the three countries an opportunity to shape the future development of youth policy in the target countries in accordance with the recommendations of the European Union; and to propose a platform for regional cooperation that will support the improvement of state youth policies in these countries. During the final part of this conference the participants will review the conclusions and the conference summary, which will include suggestions about how local and international institutions and bodies can support future youth endeavours and play a stronger role in improving youth policies in the target countries. The Conference will be held in two venues in Sarajevo, the Parliament House of Bosnia and Herzegovina (March 8) and the Student Initiative Centre Ilidza (former Igman Cinema, March 9). The Conference is organized by Catholic Relief Services, Domaci association from Croatia, Children Rights Centre from Serbia and Montenegro, Foundation for Creative Development from Bosnia and Herzegovina and B&H Youth Information Agency. The conference will be implemented within a larger regional project entitled, “Youth Lens - Youth Network for Cooperation with Government”, working to develop an effective, sustainable, empowered network of youth from Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina that will promote multi-ethnic tolerance and insure joint advocacy on prioritized youth policy issues at community, state and regional levels. |
