Kosova Art Gallery Remains Firm in Demands for “Union” Building

The leadership of the Kosova Art Gallery (GAK) as a continuity of its requirement for the right over the building of former hotel “Union” which is located in the downtown of Kosova’s capital, yesterday (Monday) has placed a four meters cloth transparent with the text of the Regulation No.2003/13 - On the Transformation of the Right of Use to Socially Owned Immovable Property.

“According to the Regulation, the lease on some properties which are under KTA (Kosovo Trust Agency) management may be exercised for the duration of the Term. Furthermore, the legislation states the possibility of extension of the least up to ninety-nine years, as well as the specific terms of the contract”, says GAK public statement.

The transparent was placed as a reaction to the declaration of Kosovo Prime Minister, Bajram Kosumi, according to which, “there is no legal basis to halt the privatization process of this hotel” and precisely a day before the upcoming meeting of Kosovo Government.

According to Luan Mulliqi, GAK Director, “this is a response to executives that says that this building cannot remain to culture, since there is no legal basis for doing so”.
