|
The Centre for Modern Skills, in cooperation with the Belgrade Centre for Political Excellence and the Provincial Secretariat of Labour, Employment and Gender Equality, will organize the conference Towards Gender Equality Law – Serbia’s European Perspectives. The Conference is scheduled to take place in Belgrade, 16 March 2006.
The Conference marks the final stage of the “Public Advocacy for Adoption of Gender Equality Law” project, implemented jointly by the CFMS, BFPE and the Secretariat, under the sponsorship of the American Freedom House. The Conference aims to present the draft-Law to the general public and to provide comparative insight into the legal solutions and applied practice3s in other European countries and countries in transition. The thematic focus of the conference will be placed, above all, on women participation in political and public affairs, i.e. their socio-economic status and position and possibilities for economic strengthening. "We hope that this gathering will help us exert the decisive pressure on the legislative to adopt the Law as soon as possible”, say the organizers of the Conference. The conference will include representatives of the competent bodies of the Government of Serbia, members of the Gender Equality Council, members of parliament, members of executive and advisory bodies in Vojvodina, representatives of local self-government institutions that participated in the project, experts in the field of women rights and gender equality from Serbia and abroad, representatives of women groups and NGOs, international organizations, media, etc. The application forms for participation in the conference are available on this link. |
