Gender Aspects of Decentralized Government

The Women Centre from Debar organized round-table discussion “Gender Aspects of Decentralized Government” yesterday, at the facilities of Gazi Baba Municipal Building. The discussion was organized under the auspices of the “Strengthening the Women Core” project, with financial support by Kviina Til Kviina, Gazi Baba Municipality and the Council of Europe.
Michelle Rivolier from the Information Office of CoE Skopje Mission, Cvetanka Ivanova and Ristanka Lalcevska, Members of Macedonian Parliament, and Koce Trajanovski, Mayor of Gazi Baba, participated in the discussion. Women Centre aims to emphasize the importance and the need for adequate representation of both sexes in all areas and structures of public arrairs, through activities designed to raise the gender awareness of local self-government elected officials. In addition to the series of discussions, the Centre has published a manual that treats the issues of definition of gender relations, the importance of the effective role of wowen in local governance and politics, the role of the local self-government in promotion of gender equality in the community, etc. |
