Nowicki Ends Mission in Kosovo

Kosovo’s Ombudsperson Marek Antoni Nowicki voiced his concerns, during a farewell conference today, on the situation of human rights in Kosovo, emphasizing that they are still far from the international standards.

Nowicki is leaving after five years and a half in the post of Ombudsperson, paving thus the way for kosovarization of this institute.

Although not fully convinced that the time for kosovarization of Ombudsperson has come, Nowicki said that it would be a political decision about this issue.

“Until it would be decided whether it will be headed by a Kosovar or not, my deputy Hilmi Jashari will be the acting Ombudsperson,” he added.
