Students will Organize Concert to Collect Money for New Dormitory

The Students Union of Skopje University (SSUKM) plans to collect the funds necessry to build new student accomodation facilities through over-the-phone donations and a concert at the Universal Hall in Skopje. Every call to a special number, to be released at a later date, and the ticket to the concert will cost 100 denars. Under the motto, Students Initiative � We Want New Dormitory, SSUKM promoted the idea to collect money for new facilities yesterday.

The campaign will last for several months. The new pfefab facilities are planned for construction in the �Stiv Naumov� dormitory in Skopje, in the section known as �Katanga�. SSUKM announced that ten two story houses should be construct there, of the type already used in the SEE University in Tetovo.

According to the National Students Centre, one such house would cost about 140,000 EUR. According to estimates, about 5 million EUR would cover the costs of construction fo 10 such houses and upgrading of the two men pavillions already existing in �Stiv Naumov�.

�This action proves that we don�t sit on our hands and wait for the state to contribute in some way. We have submitted our project to the Government and now wait to see if they will be able to assist us�, said Aleksandar Davcevski, SSUKM president.

The action is supported by all faculty unions at the Skopje University, the student organizations in Bitola, SEE University, the Association of Disabled Students, Association of Blind and the National Student Centre.
