Naim Frasheri, Albanian Enlightenment Poet
|
In previous years, Albania was represented by such poets as Ismail Kadare and Xhevahir Spahiu. In this year’s Festival, the country was represented by Visar Zhiti and Bardhyl Londo.
Tetovo was chosen to host the Festival due to the fact that it has a big statue of Naim Frasheri, placed at the main city square in 2003.
The Festival was accompanied with several exhibition, promotions of new books. Awards were presented for best poem, best translation, etc.
Naim Frasheri, considered to be the National Bard, was a prominent figure of 19th Century Enlightenment Movement in Albania and fighter for its independence.
